A las doradas playas de la isla caribeña de Martinica
arribó en 1714 bajo la protección y cuidado del testarudo Mathieu de Clieu, un joven oficial francés,
el primer arbolito de café.

Las inquietas y verdes laderas del Monte Pelée abrigaron el amanecer del intenso
rojo del cafetal. Hacia 1726 las primeras cosechas exitosas impulsaron blancas velas
que llevarian las semillas y la buena fama del café a colmar los huertos de todas las
islas del Caribe. Pronto arribaría a tierras de Centro y Sur América dónde hallará
fecundo hogar por los siglos venideros.
To the golden beaches of the Caribbean island of
Martinique arrived in 1714 under the protection and care
of the headstrong Mathieu de Clieu, a young French
officer, the first coffee tree.

The restless and green slopes of Mount Pelée sheltered the dawn of the intense red of
the coffee plantation. Around 1726 the first successful harvests prompted the white
sails that would carry the seeds and the good fame of the coffee to fill the orchards of
all the Caribbean islands. It would soon arrive in the lands of Central and South
America where will find a fruitful home for centuries to come.
La variedad de café que llegó a las Americas tiene
nombre y apellido, “Arabica Typica”. Aunque a lo largo
de su historia, en tierras del nuevo continente, no tuvo que
lidiar con piratas, corsarios o bucaneros, la verdad sea
dicha sus destinos se cruzaron por una sola vez en la
tormentosa travesía hacia las islas del trópico. Piratas
tunecinos acechaban el velero, más una noche tan oscura
como el café tostado fueron afortunadamente burlados.

Café Caribe - Arabica Typica - hace honor a ese breve encuentro. Más allá de las
circunstancias y las leyendas, las historias del café y las historias de piratas son

The variety of coffee that arrived in the Americas has
a name and surname, “Arabica Typica”.
Although throughout its history, in lands of the new
continent, did not have to deal with pirates, corsairs or

Although we prefer light roasted coffees for their intense and sweet flavor
at the same time, with good acidity and bitterness. We do not neglect
medium roast coffees, rather balanced, and dark roast coffees with
strong accents, deliciously bitter.
